Creating Space To Think

As efficiency rises, we can collectively complete more tasks and projects than ever. We are, on average, four times more efficient, yet this doesn’t always correlate to performance.

Where this discrepancy shows up most is during tasks that require creativity, communication, and critical thinking. Essentially, anything that cannot be automated and necessitates space between starting and finishing to pause and reflect.

While these responsibilities were once a subset within the larger requirements, they are increasingly more prevalent given the propensity to rely on AI and automation for other more routine work. This makes building in these opportunities more important than ever.

A fundamental component of Motivational Interviewing is creating space for individuals to explore. This intentional pause and slowing down of the process makes the commitment to a next step more impactful, which applies to the responsibilities referenced above.
